Important EICR and smoke alarms deadline: 30th November 2023
30th November 2023 is an important date for every landlord in Wales.
On or before that date, all properties must comply with every aspect of The Renting Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) (Wales) Regulations 2022.
One important deadline contained within the Regulations has already passed, which was to ensure there is a carbon monoxide alarm in every room with a gas, oil-fired or solid fuel burning appliance before 1st December 2022.
Before 1st December 2023, all properties must have a valid Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) and a smoke alarm installed on every storey that is connected to the electrical supply and linked with every other smoke alarm connected to the electrical supply. Where their occupants haven’t changed in the preceding 12 months, landlords have had a grace period in which to comply with this, but that grace ends on 30th November 2023.
