If your buy-to-let property is tenanted by somebody in receipt of a means-tested benefit and is classed as energy inefficient (meaning a rating of E, F or G on its Energy Performance Certificate), you are likely to be eligible to receive home energy efficiency improvements at no cost to you under Welsh Government’s Warm Homes NEST Scheme.
As Cardiff's largest estate and letting agent, we’ve known landlords receive up to £7,000 worth of work and contribute nothing towards it themselves.
For some landlords, this offering will be particularly useful as properties with an energy efficiency rating of F or G will be forbidden from housing new tenants after 1st April 2018.
Only homes with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of E, F or G are eligible under the scheme. If you’re unsure what rating your home has, you can check it via the online EPC Register.
Additionally, your property must be occupied by somebody in receipt of a means-tested benefit.
