Here at CPS Homes, we pride ourselves on offering Cardiff students the best possible student accommodation to make their time studying in the Welsh capital as comfortable and as enjoyable as possible. Our years of experience serving the city's student population means we know what it takes to create a living space that students will enjoy!
That's why we have to give credit where credit is due: Arofan House is a new student accommodation bloc that has recently opened, and it seems that we love it just as much as Cardiff students do!
Arofan House was one of the new student accommodation blocs to gain a construction permit, and it is a scheme launched by the Student Housing Company.
The aim of the Arofan House scheme was to offer Cardiff students private accommodation that could feel like a ‘home away from home’, far removed from the typical stereotypes of cramped and claustrophobic student halls.
Since opening, the 281-unit accommodation building is already fully occupied for the 2016/17 academic year, and there is a waiting list over a month long! It’s clearly extremely popular among students.
The new accommodation bloc is located on Vere Street, meaning it is a short distance from both Cardiff University and the University of South Wales, making it the ideal place to live for students from both universities, as well as being close to the amenities of City Road.
Sarah Linton-Walls, the Student Housing Company’s sales and marketing director, described how proud she was of the project, and the company’s ability to transform a brownfield site into a highly in-demand student residence.
The bloc itself includes a large number of social spaces for students to interact with each other, including a reception area, a study room and a common room. Links Project Management was in charge of the building’s interior design, and when describing the company’s desired aesthetic, Frances Culley, who works for LPM, said the company wanted something that was vibrant and cosmopolitan, allowing the design company to experiment with a combination of colours, textures and imagery depicting Cardiff life.
A spokesman for Midas Construction, who were responsible for the construction of the building, said that he believed the new accommodation bloc achieved its goal of creating a modern sense of student community.
