Meet the Cardiff Blues at the Marlborough Primary School Fayre

Marlborough Primary School Fayre

If you’re looking to entertain the family this weekend, why not come down to the Marlborough Primary School Fayre this Saturday for an afternoon of fun and festivities.

The fayre, which hopes to raise more than £7,000 towards the cost of a new school playground, will provide entertainment for all the family. Over the course of the afternoon you’ll be able to visit a range of stalls including: toys, books and DVDs, Chinese paintings, tattoos, face painting, cake stalls, salad bars, hotdogs, human fruit machine, beat the goalie, lucky dips, name the cuddly toy, the stocks and many more.

There will also be a bouncy castle available as well as the Marlborough Bake Off. What’s more, the Cardiff Blues will also be in attendance!

As a sponsor of the Blues, CPS homes have organised a stall where people can meet the players and get involved in coaching sessions and atomic rugby games. You’ll also be able to meet the Blues’ mascot Bruiser!

If you’re interested in raising money for a good cause whilst meeting some of the players, the agenda for the Blues involvement is:

12pm - 1.30pm – Meet Bruiser the Bear.

The Blues’ mascot will be available for photos with all fans.

1.45pm – Fun Coaching Session– Coaching Area – 15 mins

This fun-packed coaching session will give children the chance to learn the basics of rugby from some of the game’s most experienced players. This includes learning how to, pass, catch, kick and run with the ball.

2.10pm – Blues Select v Fire Brigade passing challenge – Coaching Area – 10 mins

We at CPS Homes have created a ‘passing board’ – a massive cut-out of Bruiser the Bear with a hole in his mouth. This event will see the Blues take on the South Wales Fire Brigade to see who’s the most accurate with a rugby ball.

2.30pm - 2.45pm: Blues Select v Fire Brigade – Atomic Touch Game – Coaching Area – 15 mins

Atomic Touch is a new, non-contact format of the game – it’s a hybrid between rugby and netball, so the ball can be passed in any direction, and it’s only got three rules so it’s very easy to pick up and play! The game between the South Wales Fire Brigade and the Blues will certainly be a highlight of the day.

3.00pm – Fun Coaching Session – Coaching Area – 15 min

Like the first coaching session, this will give children the chance to learn how to throw, pass, kick and carry a rugby ball.

Throughout the day, Blues players will be around and available for autographs, photos and answering questions. The ‘passing board’ will also be available throughout the day, where people can pay to throw the ball and see who’s the most accurate! The highest scorers on the day will be put into a prize draw to win a ball signed by the players.

Don’t forget the raffle prizes also include a new season shirt, hot off the press, as soon as they arrive, and a personalised signed ball, amongst other great prizes.

Emma James, CPS Homes co-director, said:

“Marlborough Primary School is just metres away from our Albany Road branch and is at the heart of our neighbourhood, so when we heard about their Playground Appeal, we wanted to support them as best we could.

“Our relationship with Cardiff Blues gives us the perfect opportunity to bring the local community together and help support the children and teachers at the school.”

Bronwen Bird, chairperson of Marlborough Primary School PTA, said:

“CPS Homes have offered a huge amount of support towards our school fayre and are enabling us to do much bigger and better events than ever before. Our playground appeal is really important to the school and CPS Homes are helping us achieve our goals.”

So if you’re looking for a great summer’s day out make sure you get down to the Marlborough Primary School fayre this Saturday 6th July. All money raised will go toward the Playground Appeal. The fayre starts at 12pm and will finish at 3pm, although as Cardiff Blues will be with us until 3.30pm we expect a few crowds to stay a little longer as we put them through their paces.

We hope to see you all there!
