After a long month of campaigning, the Cardiff University Cheerleading squad, the Cardiff Snakecharmers, ran out winners in CPS Homes' 'Grab A Grand' giveaway competition.
Promoted via Facebook, the local letting agents opened their annual competition in September, giving every society in each University in Cardiff the chance to win £1000 by gaining the highest number of votes before the end of October.
Philippa Ako, the Snakecharmers' Media and Fundraising rep, said: "As we're competing at three separate competitions this year, this money is well received and half of it will be used to subsidise competition fees. We didn't hesitate to put our 72 girl squad to use and made sure we asked family, friends and fellow cheerleaders from teams around the country to vote for us."
Philippa continued: "The remainder of the funds will be used towards new short sporting the CPS Homes logo."
On behalf of CPS Homes, Nikki Lewis added: "The Snakecharmers are worthy winners and we're delighted that the prize has been well received. The competition was a big success - pulling in over 5,000 votes - and was a close-run thing until the very end."
The girls have already started preparing for their competitions with a series of Choreography Camps led by All Star coach Becky Parker and are showing signs that they will be a force to be reckoned with this year.
